The Bible + Becoming Episode 1: Holy Saturday

This week in The Bible + Becoming, we explored the sacred “in‑between” — the burial, the silence, and the liminal space between Christ's death and resurrection. This is the space where the Word becomes flesh in us, where we don’t just hear Scripture but embody it. Shayla (http://www.thesacredway.faith) shared from her 20 years of biblical study and trauma‑informed coaching, bridging the sacred and the scientific to show how biblical narratives mirror the human healing journey. I shared reflections from Matthew, Luke, Psalms, and 1 Peter, revealing how even in silence, God is moving. Together, we looked at how Passover, Sabbath rest, and the Festival of First Fruits form a divine pattern of transformation: Sacrifice → Rest → New Life.

This “Saturday space” is where we wait without answers, trust when nothing makes sense, and allow God to work in the unseen. It is the place where grief is witnessed, where the nervous system integrates, and where the seed is buried before it rises.

Action Plan:

If you are in a transition or liminal space — not where you were, not yet where you’re going — set aside intentional time this week to rest and get still with God. Create a mini‑ceremony: dim the lights, light candles, play soft worship or instrumental music, and use oils like frankincense, lavender, or rose. Let the atmosphere nourish your soul. Close your eyes and breathe deeply, letting your breath guide you back into your body. Open your heart in prayer and invite Spirit to meet you in the in‑between. Ask God to shine light on any hidden or heavy places within you.

Journal Prompts:

• Why does it feel uncomfortable to be still

• What comes up for me when everything is quiet

• What is God stirring inside of me

• Is there any heaviness I’m avoiding — grief, impatience, anxiety

• What is my body asking for

• What is asking to be witnessed

• What part of me has died and is asking to be resurrected, restored, renewed, reclaimed, or rebirthed

• Am I willing to release the grief and embrace a new future aligned with God’s will for my life

Let’s Go Deeper — Root to Fruit Workshop

April 22 at 7 PM - Zoom link will be posted online

“How the biblical story lives inside the human nervous system.”

We’ll journey from Genesis to Revelation, uncovering humanity’s blueprint for healing — a trauma‑informed, embodied, biblically anchored path of restoration. Genesis 1 reminds us that we were created with order, intention, and the capacity to hold God’s presence. This workshop will help us return to that original design.
